Help wanted
Yes! Summertime is here, which means putting on flip-flops, grabbin' a six pack of beer and hittin' the beach with your friends. But wait, there's just one problem. Your parents won't get off your back about getting a summer job.

Metromix realizes the strain gainful employment puts on summer plans, so we've rounded up some of the best jobs around Baltimore to help you forget the fact that you're not cruising the boardwalk. Who ever thought working could fill a void like that? From perfect views of Harborplace at Phillips Harborplace to pigging out on deliciousness at The Cheesecake Factory, you'll thank us for perusing the classifieds.

So apply today, and make your parents proud.

Bo Brooks
Why you'll love it:
Get hammered at Bo Brooks. Or hammer a few crabs instead. This summer job is full of perks. With some of the best crabs around and a full bar (of course), you won't go hungry or thirsty. Plus, you might meet a drunken sailor or two to take you for a ride on their dinghy.
What they're hiring for: Servers, hosts, hostesses, busboys
Where to apply: Online at www.bobrooks.com

The Cheesecake Factory
Why you'll love it: This job basically involves sitting around and eating cheesecake all day. (We hope.) Godiva chocolate, fresh banana cream, vanilla bean and Kahlua cocoa coffee are just a few of the desserts you'll serve (and eat). With this vast array of flavors, you will never get bored this summer, although you may get a little fat. Plus, you'll become a cheesecake expert. Who knows, maybe you'll create your own bestselling flavor.
What they're hiring for: Servers and hostesses
Where to apply: In person

Della Notte Ristorante
Why you'll love it: Donald Trump ate at this Little Italy restaurant and liked it, which is pretty much all we should have to say. You never know, this could lead to your big break working at Trump Towers or perhaps earn you a four-figure tip. If that doesn't work out, though, it should be known that Della Notte serves the second best cannolis in the city, which ought to provide a pleasant distraction from drink refills.
What they're hiring for: Servers
Where to apply: Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday

Hard Rock Cafe
Why you'll love it: With a mission statement that entails "Delivering kick-ass service," who wouldn't want to spend a summer at Harborplace's haven of rock? After all, you can't beat listening to live music on the clock. Pretty famous people have been spotted here, too, so there's a chance you'll see someone cool like Mick Jagger. (Probably not, though, but if you wish really hard it might come true.)
What they're hiring for: Servers and hostesses
Where to apply: In person during the week from noon until 2 p.m.

Mt. Washington Tavern
Why you'll love it: There's the main bar, raw bar, garden bar and sky bar at the Tavern, which are all great places to hide if you don't exactly feel up to working. On nice summer days, we recommend the rooftop sky bar, a great place to hang out with co-workers and sneak a few pina coladas before getting back to work.
What they're hiring for: Servers, hosts, hostesses
Where to apply: In person on location

Nick's Fish House
Why you'll love it: There certainly are quite a few extraordinary seafood restaurants on this list of potential summer jobs, but Nick's is an original. If you want a more laid back atmosphere—meaning brown paper bags as tablecloths—this is the place for you. After all, once the beers kick in, your table may even offer you a seat and a crab mallet, which will really make Nick's feel like home.
What they're hiring for: Hosts, hostesses, cooks
Where to apply: In person on location

Pazo
Why you'll love it: This upscale joint may require you to wear a tie and a pressed shirt, but don't let these details get in the way of the hundreds of wines you'll need to taste to be a competent employee. If we were you, we'd recommend the Rebera del Duero to those fancy pants guests. It only costs $950 a bottle. (After all, you can't recommend a wine without having a little taste yourself.)
What they're hiring for: Servers and cooks
Where to apply: In person Monday through Friday from noon until 3 p.m.

Phillips Harborplace
Why you'll love it: After work, you'll smell like you just went deep-sea fishing. Who can beat that? All right, maybe that's not such a great thing. In actuality, though, you can't beat serving where the prices are steep. Twenty percent of frikkin' expensive is generally pretty good. Go ahead, snack on crab legs while you wait for your table to decide what they want. Or, perfect your summer tan by laying out on the sunny front deck. It's almost like you're on vacation.
What they're hiring for: Servers and cooks
Where to apply: At the restaurant or online at www.phillipsseafood.com

The Rusty Scupper
Why you'll love it: Those who know about this place won't look at you funny when you tell them you're working somewhere called The Rusty Scupper. With extensive views of the harbor and lighting that makes you feel like you're on an underwater adventure, there's no other place you'll want to spend your weekends.
What they're hiring for: Servers, bartenders, busboy
Where to apply: Apply in person 11:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. during the week

Salt
Why you'll love it: With its spaceship-like atmosphere, you can pretend you're in an episode of the "X-Files" while you work, which could actually turn out to be quite entertaining for your guests. Plus, the bar stays fully stocked, just in case you get bored of that whole "X-Files" thing.
What they're hiring for: Cooks, hosts, hostesses
Where to apply: Fax your resume to 410-342-0764
