The Hampden Bar Crawl

I’m an enthusiast for bar crawls. As a relatively new Baltimorean for the last year, I’ve found a couple of runs that never fail to disappoint. This is the Hampden bar crawl.

  • Frazier's on the Avenue

    Frazier's on the Avenue - 3 1/2

    919 W. 36th St. - Baltimore (Hampden)

I usually start here. Decent prices on Boh and drafts during happy hour. Huge shots. Decent food and sometimes specials during happy hour. I prefer the dirty side of the bar.

    Hampden: Hon Bar

The Hon bar is usually a little quiet, but they've got the coldest glasses for beer on the Ave. and a good selection of beers. During happy hour their appetizers are discounted. The bar staff is always friendly.

I love and I hate Holy's. The food is always good, but the staff is usually indifferent. Happy hour specials are only at the bar.

You need to stop here on your Hampden crawl. It's a real taste of Hampden. But make it near the end of the evening. You'll need to social lube.

    Rocket to Venus - 3 1/2

I wouldn't suggest eating here, but the beer selection is pretty nice and it's become quite the scenester locale. Good stop for a beer or 2 during the evening.

  • Nutty Pub - 3

3520 Chestnut Ave. - Baltimore (Hampden)

This place is always empty and there's live music for no one on the weekends. Stop here once the crawl has gotten good and loud. No one will care.

    Flip's - 4

1601 Union Ave. - Baltimore (Hampden)

This is a ways off the beaten path, but on Sat. & Sun. they have $1 Boh's all day. And it's a nice looking place. Worth the stop.

I like the wings here, but you never know what sort of crowd might be there. Stop at your own risk, but have a dose of late night beer and wings. Also off the beaten path.

This should be your 1st stop on your Hampden crawl. You'll want all the chocolate you picked out as a late night munchie....

If I had to eat at chain restaurants for the rest of my life...

I would go on the Mary-Kate Olsen diet. Just kidding, here's some chain restaurants that don't suck.
