Cheap eats around Baltimore
I enjoy a fancy-schmancy meal as much as the next person, but what really is satisfying is a great meal that doesn't drain my wallet.

Szechuan Restaurant -
1125 S. Charles St. - Baltimore (South Baltimore)
Report this commentI've been eating here since the late 1980s. And to prove it, my picture's on the wall. But what keeps me coming back is the fresh, tasty food and the freiendly hosts.

Soup's On at Rose's Cookies -
842 W. 36th St. - Baltimore (Hampden)
Report this commentIs there a more perfect meal than soup? I recently jump-started spring, sitting on the porch on a still-chilly but sunny afternoon, loving me some lentil soup. Cheap and good!

S'ghetti Eddie's -
410 W. Cold Spring Lane - Baltimore
Report this commentNever had the s'ghetti, but the pizzas are tasty, fast and (almost) cheap.

Vito's -
6304 York Road - Baltimore (Belvedere Square/ Govans)
Report this commentJust another strip-mall dive you say? Say that after you've had their cheese steak sub. Go on - try and say it with a straight face.

Holy Frijoles! -
908 W 36th St. - Baltimore (Hampden)
Report this commentI guess I'll always be one of THOSE PEOPLE who bemoan the day that they cut the hole in the wall and made this great hole in the wall bigger and brassier. But If you sit at one of the tiny front tables, you can pretend that nothing's changed.

Papermoon Diner -
227 W. 29th St. - Baltimore (Remington)
Report this commentWaaaay back in the day, this was the "Open House" diner, and it was where you went to soak up the beer when the clubs closed. It was reliable then, it's reliable now. Cheap eats, done well. And weirdly kid-friendly as a bonus.
