The residents of the Hamilton/Lauraville community have a secret. We don't like secrets, so we're blowing this one sky high. When we don't feel like dealing with parking in Mount Vernon or can't stand one more meal in Alonsoville, we shoot for this Harford Road-area hub. Hey Hamilton-ites and Lauravillans, we want charcuterie and chocolates, too!
Those lucky Harford Road residents can travel to Kansas, the Carolinas and Texas without ever leaving home. Baltimoreans need BBQ, too, and this charming spot offers all varieties, accompanied by tangy sauces and tender fall-off-the-bone meat. Be warned: Some of the sauces are "Hot Enough for the Devil."
This cafe is one of those unassuming little spots that you never expect to find where you actually find it. It boasts a refined menu with diverse and comfort-inducing dishes like fried-green tomatoes and chicken Maryland.
This charcuterie can be credited with much of the resurgence of the area. Ever since it opened, diners can't stop buzzing about its specialty pork products, homemade muffins and "award-winning" mac 'n' cheese.
This newly renovated bar and tavern is on its way to becoming a swanky site in Hamilton. Its decor brings an old farmhouse to mind, complete with scythes and antique radios, but it also has some unique poetry on the walls to add a softer touch.
While Red Canoe is primarily a children's bookstore (only convenient if you happen to have some of those at your disposal), it's also a coffee shop with darn good coffee. So, step over the wee ones and make a bee-line for the caffeine counter.
