Hey, honey. (Credit: Kelly Christ)

If you're like us, you've been scarred by the sticker shock you receive every time you grab a tomato or a melon in the super market. It's completely discouraging to spend so much on fruits and veggies without any guarantee that the stuff you just bought tastes anything like a fruit or a vegetable. That's why we take advantage of all the farmers' markets in our area. Not only do we get to enjoy the great outdoors, we also get to discover food that actually tastes like it came from the great outdoors.

Baltimore Farmers' Market

Sundays: This is the big one. The farmer's market to end all farmers' markets. It's more than a shopping experience; it's a scene.

The Shops at Kenilworth

Kenilworth Farmers' Market

Tuesdays: This one's on the small side, but it boasts Atwater's treats, which are always a good thing. Plus, you can pop inside the mall for a quick browse through South Moon Under.

Bel Air Farmers' Market

Tuesdays and Saturdays: This is a good one to hit, if you need fresh produce but don't want to come into Baltimore City or County. There's plenty of variety, too.

Mount Washington Farmers' Market

Wednesdays: This might be the most convenient of the markets, allowing you to supplement your guilt-free purchases with other treats you might find inside at Whole Foods.

Springfield Farm

Tide Point Farmers' Market

Thursdays: This one's tiny, but you can't beat the convenience.

More 'maters

Towson Farmers' Market

Thursdays and Saturdays: We like the Towson Farmers' Market when we need something quick for that night's dinner, but don't want to head down to the Saturday Waverly market. Plus, it's near enough restaurants that we can work up an appetite and satiate it!

Waverly Farmer's Market

Waverly Farmers' Market

Saturdays: The Waverly Farmers' Market is where it's at. Operating all-year, and attracting resident from several neighborhoods, it's not at all uncommon to get spotted in your pajamas by someone you wish hadn't seen you.
