Ever notice the abundance of steakhouses in and around the Inner Harbor? Well, it's no coincidence that the heart of Baltimore's biggest tourist attraction is peppered with an extensive variety of expensive steakhouses. That's right, you may like your steaks rare, but the price tag on that hunka-hunka burnin' beef will bleed your wallet dry. We're not saying that the food isn't delicious—because it definitely is—but, unless the economy does an immediate about-face, you may want to keep your steak consumption limited to special occasions.

The Capital Grille
500 East Pratt St. - BaltimoreMuch like all of the other upscale chains, this Pratt Street steakhouse prides itself on a variety of cuts and seafood alternatives. Also, the restaurant's wine list is nothing to sneeze at.
Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar
720 Aliceanna St. - BaltimoreNot unlike the previous entry, this upscale chain provides superb steaks and fine wines. Though its contemporary decor stands out among its mahogany-laden competitors, the menus are pretty comparable.
Fogo de Chao
600 East Pratt St. - BaltimoreSpicing up the Baltimore steakhouse scene is this Brazilian churrascaria. Beyond the unique blends of seasonings, the unlimited helpings of beef on the prix-fixe menu really sets this place apart. And you thought all-you-can-eat joints weren't classy...
Houlihan's
621 E. Pratt St. - BaltimoreIt's not quite a steakhouse, but this place does serve up some quality beef. It's a great place to go if you want a mellow atmosphere and some options beyond steak or seafood.
Morton's
300 S. Charles St. - BaltimoreThe New York Yankees of steakhouses, this mega-chain has set the standard for high-class steak spots for years. Much like the Yankees, the restaurant is starting to see what happens when the competition suddenly catches up.
The Prime Rib
1101 N. Calvert St. - BaltimoreLonging for some feeling of local identity? This is about as close as it gets. Originated in ol' Baltimore, this super-classy steak spot evokes the elegance of 1940s Manhattan--minus the rampant Mafia activity.
Ruth's Chris Steak House
600 Water St. - BaltimoreThis chain serves as the Boston Red Sox to Morton's Yankees. The food is just as good and slightly cheaper, which tricks its fan base into thinking they root for the underdog.
Shula's 2
101 W. Fayette St. - BaltimoreIf the legendary coach knows beef like he knows football, this should be one hell of a steakhouse. Unlike the stuffier places on this list, the coach's joint has the feel of an upscale sports bar. If you're feeling extra carnivorous, sink your teeth into the mammoth 16-ounce cowboy steak.
Sullivan's Steakhouse
1 East Pratt St. - BaltimoreAh yes, the new kid on the block. This chain has cleverly established its own identity by emulating a Chicago-style steakhouse with the vibes of a jazz lounge. What a refreshing change of pace from the typical upscale steakhouse chain.
