Since the late 1800s, the people of Baltimore have been having lunch at the Women's Industrial Exchange on Charles Street, first as a tea room, and later as a cafeteria where grandmotherly types in heavily-starched blue and white waitress uniforms served up creamy chicken salad and tomato aspic with tall, cool glasses of sweet iced tea. The Exchange's restaurant was even briefly featured in the movie "Sleepless in Seattle" when Meg Ryan, playing a Baltimore Sun reporter, has lunch with her editor. Today, the starched aprons are gone. The Dogwood Cafe brings with it a fresher, newer menu and a different kind of lunchtime eatery.

I stopped by this place on assignment one day. Very quaint and charming. Didn't get a chance to try the food, but the staff was very welcoming.
