La Guadalupana
Descripcion: If authenticity is your thing, you can't get much more authentic than La Guadalupana. Sitting in this half eatery/half grocery, you'll feel like you're in a dusty little town just south of the Rio Grande. That may or may not be to your liking, since this eatery isn't the sort of place to bring a date or even finicky friends. It's working class grub served at rock bottom prices in a working class environment, with Mexican football (soccer!) blaring on the TV and lots of men eating, drinking and laughing.
Nacionalidad: Mexican
Hablan ingles?: If you don't speak Spanish (or at least Spanglish), expect to do some charades to make a point.
Dinero: Bring $5-$10 and you'll be stuffed.
Especialidades: Everything you'd expect (tacos, tostadas, chicken and beans or rice), plus barbecued goat and a soup made from sheep intestines (mmm, tripe). You wanted authenticity, you got it!
