Slippery when wet: Steamed P.E.I. mussels at Mama's on the Half Shell
Ingredients: The most popular sauce that Mama's covers its P.E.I. mussels with is the white wine, garlic herb sauce but there's also Cajun butter, Old Bay butter, marinara and a horseradish sauce.

Skinny: Even though the sauce is not as rich or creamy as Ale Mary's, these mussels seem larger, and they're actually steamed by the bartender right before your eyes. Right out of the steamer, these mussels are tossed with ice to cool them a bit, then covered with sauce. They're very good, and--though I was full--as long as they sat in front of me, they were the go-to app. And keep in mind, the bar was overwhelmed by my order: shrimp, mussels and oysters.--Mark Gross
