FBLT at One World Café
Credit:Lindsay Smith
Ingredients: Fakin' bacon (made of tempeh), lettuce and tomato with mayo on multi-grain toast served with a side of tortilla chips
Damage: $7.50
Skinny: As this sandwich proves, when it comes to fakin' bacon, it's not necessarily what it's made of, but how you use it. Although the fakin' bacon isn't crunchy, it does have an oddly satisfying nubbly texture with the slightest hint of a salty, pork flavor. On the sandwich, it nearly disappears amidst all the fresh produce and mayo, but there is a certain je ne sais quoi that keeps this sandwich in competition with traditional BLTs. In short, if you can forgive the absence of crunch, you might just find satisfaction. At any rate, your arteries will thank you for dining at One World.
