Ever wonder why salad bars consistently have pickled beets on them? No one ever seems to eat them, yet there they are. In fact, rumor has it that a Sizzler in Topeka, Kan., once used the same bowl of beets in its salad bar from April 1987 to August 1995. The beet salad at Rocket to Venus features beets on a bed of fresh greens with sherry and olive oil dressing, candied walnuts, mandarin orange segments and Feta cheese. No recycling here; there won't be anything left.
