Lake trout from King's Fried Chicken
Ingredients: Breaded and fried "whiting fish" on top of fries with a white dinner roll
Damage: Two pieces with fries and a can of soda was $6.49
Skinny: Upon their first foray into Lake Trout Land, the uninitiated to the local delicacy may expect the fish to resemble frozen fish sticks or something found at Long John Silver's. It doesn't. It's much more...fishy. While the flavor was overwhelming, King's version wasn't nearly as bony and fin-y as some we've seen. Fortunately, it wasn't terribly greasy, but we did want to take a shower after a few bites. We tried to get the crispy fish to go down by first adding some hot sauce (better), then some tartar sauce (better still). If you can stomach lake trout without gagging, King's is probably a good bet.—Amanda Krotki
