Three cheese plate at The Wine Market
The prettiest
Damage: $11
Skinny: It was obvious that someone dedicated considerable time and effort to arranging the cheese plate we received at The Wine Market. Long lines of sweet sauce led us along the rectangular plate from the semi-sweet quince paste to the cardamom-spiced almonds in an olive oil pool to the three cheese selections—a goat's cheese, a blue cheese and a semi-soft cow's cheese—and finally to the lightly-toasted bread. We almost didn't want to touch it—almost. Like the wide variety of wines it offers by the glass, The Wine Market also varies the cheeses offered in its cheese plate. And also like the wine list, the cheese plate has a little something for everyone, from the well-informed to the uninitiated. One of us, who universally disliked all goat cheeses based on one bad feta experience, was pleasantly surprised to find the goat cheese at The Wine Market to be very mild and smooth. It went perfectly with a glass of sangria.
