Old Bay chips at Gin Mill
Ingredients: At first, we ordered the fresh-cut chips, but the bartender recommended the Old Bay chips instead, and who could resist thick potato chips deep-fried and swimming in a dusty bath of Old Bay with cocktail sauce on the side? Not us.
Damage: $3.99
Skinny: Anyone who believes Old Bay is strictly intended for seafood ought to visit Gin Mill to see the error of his ways. Who would have thought deep-fried chips could taste any better than they already do? Throw some Old Bay on these bad boys, and you have one of the best potato combinations we've ever tasted. The chips are thick, crunchy and hot to the touch, and they arrive stuck together in some fairly amusing shapes. The Old Bay left a sizzling sensation on our lips, but the cocktail sauce takes the edge off the heat. We added ketchup just to see how it compared, and now we highly recommend stopping by the Gin Mill to have some Old Bay Chips with ketchup.—Laura Duffy
