Macho nachos at Nacho Mama's
Ingredients: Macho Nachos start with that same familiar ring around the salsa and sour cream, and include refried beans, jalapeños and Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses. For the Munchie review, we tried them with chicken, but you can also get them with veggies, beef or blackened chicken.
Damage: $7.50 plain; $8.50 with veggies; $9.50 with chicken (pictured) or beef
Skinny: Another great Nacho Mama product. And just because Nacho Mama's Crab Dip is out of the picture this time, doesn't mean these nachos are any less dense than their crabby counterpart. Cheese is still a major contributor here, but the refried beans make up for any loss. To cover any oversights on my part, let's look at the Nacho Mama's basics–chips and salsa. The tortilla chips are pretty standard–not greasy, no hint of lime, but salty. The salsa is thick and spicy with big chunks of tomato. Don't worry, it's not so hot you'll need a gallon of water to chase it. Now, as for the Macho Nachos, the refried beans are spread across the chips and plenty of juicy chunks of chicken are dropped on for good measure. Then they pile on the cheese. Then they pile on the cheese, again. Then they probably add some cheese. Nacho Mama's never skimps on cheese ... or portion size. In fact, there's a good chance you'll leave with a pizza box filled with about four pounds of leftover nachos. –Mark Gross
