In a town where tastes veer more toward shrimp salad, the phenomenal el shrimp soup (pictured) made us look around to make sure we hadn’t teleported to one of them there fancy city dining spots. Sort of a Mexican take on mulligatawny, the soup was topped with four big, juicy, perfectly-cooked shrimp along with generous avocado slices, cilantro, chiles and veggies. The cup-sized serving seemed pricey at $4.99, but to our delight it arrived in a huge bowl, which held more than enough to share with a friend. Viva el shrimp!
Metromix also loved the tequila chicken soup, which was a festival of corn, beans, jalapenos, celery and creamy chicken with a cilantro garnish. Perfect with a dash of hot sauce!
