Dumser's Dairyland
Frozen beach treats: One-scoop butterscotch sundae at Dumser's Dairyland
Ingredients: One scoop of vanilla ice cream covered with butterscotch sauce covered with chopped peanuts covered with whipped cream covered with a cherry. It's an ice cream sundae, Sherlock.
Damage: $3.59
Skinny: An Ocean City tradition since 1939, Dumser's is synonymous with ice cream in the minds of many beach-goers. While some may fall for thick shakes and fancy-schmancy dip-top cones, Dumser's devoted believe the sundae still reigns supreme. I was taken aback by the lack of caramel here, but the cashier was quick and ready with a suggestion of butterscotch--sort of like an ice cream sommelier. The rich sauce complemented the fluffy, slightly sweet whipped cream and crunchy peanuts nicely. Keep the plastic spoon as a souvenir. Or just throw it away. If you want to waste a perfectly good plastic spoon.--Jason Rhodes
