Conner's Beach Café
Frozen beach treats: Flying Fruit Fantasy shake at Conner's Beach Café
Ingredients: The overhead sign at Conner's says it all: "Real fruit and juices blended with ice." In this case, the fruit was strawberry, the juice was strawberry juice, and the ice was ... umm, ice.
Damage: $3.75
Skinny: Don't let the big pineapple on the sign fool you; pineapple is not actually a member of the Flying Fruit Fantasy family. However, it's a small omission considering all the other fruity goodness available here: mixed berry, peach, guava berry, strawberry, orange cream, piña colada and banana. The strawberry bits in my Fantasy were large enough to clog the straw. Not necessarily a bad thing, since they stopped the large, unblended, shards of ice from hitting the nether regions of my mouth at lightning speed. Conner's advertises its blend as "a natural high," but don't stress -- there's no reason to drop this stash just cus the Five-0 pedals by. It's only juice.--Jason Rhodes
