Silver Spring Mining Company
Credit:Mark Gross
Ingredients: Considered the original crab pretzel in Maryland, Silver Spring Mining Company starts with what the menu calls a ballpark pretzel. It was crisp on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. Piled on top is plenty of dip, and the cheddar and jack cheeses are browned just the way we like.
Damage: $10.59
Skinny: The dip has enough crab meat to satisfy, though it seems flaky instead of lumpy. The Old Bay is more prominent in this crab pretzel than many of its competitors, and that's a good thing, which begs the question, why don't others take advantage of this staple Maryland spice? Silver Spring's crab pretzel is great, one of the best, and it should be, since it's also the most expensive.—Mark Gross
