Chili: Chili at Hull Street Blues Café
Ingredients: The chili at Hull Street is a traditional mix of onions, kidney beans, tomatoes and what I believe to be the largest chunks of ground beef ever sunk in a bowl of chili. "The Works" adds a generous mound of melted cheddar, an artistically rendered sour cream crosshatching and a handful of green onions.
Damage: $3.75 cup/$5.50 bowl ($ .75 for "The Works")
Skinny: The Hull Street Chili is thinner than the others I've had. It's a little spicy, but mellowed by melted cheddar and sour cream. The friendly conversation at Hull Street adds the comfort of a neighborhood bar to owner Dan Macatee's 22 years of Hull Street experience. This could easily be my favorite chili in Baltimore.--Mark Gross
