Live action dining
November 17, 2008
Invitees knew to expect food that was different, and Stelzenmuller delivered. But what they didn't expect was live entertainment. During a course called rabbit surprise, a sheet of cloth was pulled down to reveal local rockers The Expotentials. Benjamin Erjavec of The Oceanaire summed up the crowd's sentiment: "This is insane! This is everything that everybody wishes they could pull off for a group of chefs."
The belly dancer who performed with a sword during the roasted lamb's head course and the Mariachi band that played "Tequila" while everyone ate the chicken taco were merely warm up acts to the pig de resistance. A 23-karat-gold-leafed suckling pig (much like a golden idol to be worshipped) was presented in the darkened dining room while everyone wore sunglasses. For dessert, what better than a giant baked Alaska cut using a chain saw?
