Eastern Market
All of Eastern Market is pretty spectacular. Vendors hawk some of the best fresh produce around while local artists sell photography, paintings, hand-made crafts and jewelry. Wandering through the semi-chaos on Capitol Hill on a weekend morning is a D.C. tradition for many, and one of the enticements of that tradition is the Market Lunch in the newly-built East Hall (the original South Hall burned down in the spring of 2007). Everything is good, from the breakfast plates with eggs and grits to the lunchtime crab cake sandwiches. Amidst the happy order shouting, make sure to place one for an order of "blue bucks." Because a hot stack of blueberry buckwheat pancakes with a big knob of butter and a few ladles of syrup is a great way to start the day. (Except on Sundays, when the Market Lunch only serves...well, lunch.)
