Akbar is the ideal Indian-fare gem to duck into on a rainy night when nothing but curry will do, or after strolling Charles Street on a First Thursday. The owner is always welcoming and the waiters are attentive (if a little peculiar). The restaurant's small size is hidden by a wall of mirrors, but the extensive menu more than makes up for the lack of conversation privacy. Try the mulligatawny soup, chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo and wash it all down with a mango lassi.
