Donna's Café $5 small plates and $5 glasses of wine

It's no surprise to learn that chef Tony Mosby has been working at Donna's since 1997. With that type of experience, it's no wonder he's able to conjure two new plates of food every day. These plates, unlike the regular menu, only cost $5, which leaves room for you to buy one of the cafe's special $5 glasses of wine. Its 5 & 5 special has been a welcome addition to the Mount Vernon location. Offering one meat dish and one seafood dish seven days a week (beginning at 5 p.m., naturally), this special fits even the most hectic of schedules. When Metromix was on the scene, we were pleasantly surprised with a great pasta dish that contained caramelized mushroom, chicken and sun-dried tomatoes in a mushroom cream sauce. Perfectly seasoned and containing tender chunks of juicy chicken, this dish was a steal for $5. The portion size was great for anyone on a diet or unwilling to lug around a bag of leftovers. Chef Mosby will be offering something different every night, so be sure to stop by often to see what his next surprise is.
