SoBo Cafe $13 strip steak
On Mondays, a person is lucky to find any halfway decent meal at a good price for two reasons: One, many restaurants are closed, and, two, if they are open, they're getting rid of old stock. (Note: Avoid seafood!) That said, it was refreshing to find a good restaurant offering a great value right by Cross Street Market.
SoBo Café has been around for a few years, and has a steadfast following. As soon as you sit down, you notice it looks like that cool place you would eat at in college. The one with the great atmosphere and delicious comfort food. Once you see the price of the strip steak, though, you'll realize SoBo is way better than that crappy joint.
The strip steak is a 12-ounce monster served with a horseradish and bacon butter (fragrant, but unnecessary), mashed potatoes (Yukon and sweet potatoes with Cheddar and onions) and the very best mixed vegetable medley Metromix has ever had (seriously!). To say $13 dollars is a good price for this meal is like saying having sex after a long dry spell is "just OK." There are steakhouses that wish they could make a steak this good. (A tip: On your next visit, check out another fan favorite, the chicken pot pie.)
