Tuesday
Hull Street Blues $12 entrees
Tuesday is a great night to hunt food specials. Restaurants give decent discounts, because Tuesdays are generally the slowest night of the week. In Locust Point, don't look further than Hull Street Blues. The restaurant offers all of its nine entrees for $12 each. Meat dishes are where Hull Street shines. The petit filet (pictured) and the pork loin are cooked nicely and accompanied by mashed potatoes and asparagus. The hits of the night, both dishes could be ordered at full price ($17.95 and $16.95) without patrons feeling cheated. The sweet and savory apple bourbon chicken was a pleasant surprise. This airline chicken breast with apple slices in bourbon glaze over rice avoided tasting too sweet thanks to a chargrilled exterior.
Meat was certainly the way to go at Hull Street, as the ravioli dish fell short in terms of taste and value. Compared to the other dishes, this one is better left alone. Despite this small setback, $12 Tuesdays are definitely worth checking out for good, well-cooked dinners at a frugal price.
