Seared rare tuna at Rocket to Venus
First impression: Wontons? Yes!
Contents: Seared rare yellowfin tuna encrusted with wasabi peas served with rice noodles, a sesame vinaigrette salad and wonton strips
Fork or chopsticks? This couldn't be easier to eat if the waitress came out and fed you. The slices are small enough to pick up with a fork and put in your mouth, and the meat is tender, so you don't have to chew for very long.
Damage: $16 (entrée). Metromix usually chooses quality over quantity, but that decision wasn't necessary here. This was well prepared and generously portioned.
Decision: This is our second favorite, after Oceanaire. The crunchy bites of seared tuna are perfectly seasoned. Your mouth (and stomach) will thank you. The rest of the meal totally complements the tuna. Everything—from the wonton strips to the spicy rice noodles and salad—tastes like it belongs on your plate (and on your fork, for that matter). Pair it with a glass of Ipsum (the wine Rocket to Venus recommends with this dish).
