Pizza John’s
Basics: Pizza John’s cheese is a choice of provolone or American. Metromix chose provolone (as we did for all sandwiches), along with lettuce, tomato, hots, mayo and onions. The meat was loose and the sandwich easy to hold. It’s a relatively neat sandwich, which is a very welcome change of pace. Fans of spicy will like Pizza John’s. When we requested the works, our server asked, "Even hots?" We could definitely taste the hots, but there was a good balance between the meat and the fixings. It was skimpy on the cheese, though. So far, Pizza John’s is the best sit-down location of any establishment visited by Metromix.
Damage: Pizza John's charges $11.55 for the fully-loaded sub. It’s a high cost for a relatively average sub.
Decision: These cheesesteaks inspire appreciation for John's neatness. A filling effort, but nothing to inspire long drives around the Beltway.
