The Real Thing
Basics: The name presumably implies The Real Thing's cheesesteaks are the real deal, when compared to the other charlatans and imitators in the Whiz biz. We can confirm its cheesesteaks contain real steak, real provolone (or a choice of real Cheese Whiz), real mayo, real lettuce, real onions and real hots. Additionally, this sub was less messy than others we sampled. The fresh-tasting meat and mayo gave it a real hamburger-like flavor.
Damage: Real's nine-inch cheesesteak costs a real $7.50. The cost-to-portion ratio is lower than other cheesesteaks we sampled. The general quality of this sub makes up for its decreased size, though.
Decision: Is The Real Thing the real thing? Uncertain. But this cheesesteak is good. Real good? Just good. If you’re in Towson, it's worth checkin’ out.
