Soup draft 2008
After sampling nine soups, we still had what amounted to full cups of each variety. So, it was time to divvy up the goods.
First round
For Amanda's first-round draft pick, she went with the pumpkin. Which, tactically speaking, was probably not such a smart move. There was no danger that Mark would snatch that one up. What was she thinking? Mark didn't hesitate to grab the French onion. Burn!
Second round
Amanda came back swinging, though, with her second-round pick: The Maryland crab! Nice moves. Feeling burned, Mark opted for the pasta fagioli even though he knew Amanda would probably steer clear of its cured meat goodness. Still, solid picks all around.
Third round
Since Amanda already had the two soups she most wanted, she took the borscht. Mark's response: "I'm washing my hands of the borscht." Another easy, meat-laden pick for Mark came next, when he copped the lemon chicken.
Fourth round
There was no way Amanda would get stuck with the broccoli, so she grabbed the spinach soup for her fourth and final round. Mark grabbed up the tomato eggplant, as it had the clear advantage over what remained.
Then, both Amanda and Mark taunted the broccoli as if it were the dorky kid on the playground who didn't get picked for dodge ball. (Doubly cruel, since the pair must have learned their lesson, being that they were clearly those dorky kids who didn't get picked for dodge ball.)
