Potato Night: The sequel

Checkin' in on Birches' carb-ivores

For us, that vast, carbless expanse that stretched from Dec. 3, 2008 to Jan. 7, 2009 was as painful a potato famine as we've ever endured. After more than a month, our homecoming to Birches Potato Night should have been a joyous one. It likely would have been, too, had it not been for miserable weather, a tater traitor or two (work plans shmerk plans, jerks!) and an ill group member.

With high expectations, our group began this spud-venture in October of ought eight. Now, in these first weeks of 2009, our spud club T-shirts (and free potatoes!) are an eternity away. We've made only six visits and consumed only 18 toppings, which is to say we're not even halfway to our goal. We're all committed to seeing this to completion, though, it's just going to take us longer than we thought.
