Deep-fried pb&j sandwich
August 23, 2008
First impression: Simply typing the name made us die a little inside. Looking more like a balled-up wad of fried dough, the deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich is topped with powdered sugar and chocolate sauce. Nobody wants it to be too healthy, after all. Served warm and messy, the peanut butter is an unexpected—and unwelcome—taste after the outer layer of sugar and chocolate, and the novelty wears off quickly.
Also available: Fried Milky Way, fried Snickers, fried Three Musketeers.
Fair damage: If you listen closely, as you hand over $4 for this "sandwich," you can hear your arteries screaming.
Midway mood: Horrifying in concept, middling in execution, deep fried pb&j should go the way of the traditional freak show...away.
What other people are saying...
