Asahi Sushi
Asahi Sushi looks like every other sushi restaurant in the world and tastes like what most of them will never be. The sushi at Asahi is fresh and innovative, the prices great and the BYOB scene friendly.
Asahi has bottle openers or glasses if needed and charges no corkage fees at all, meaning you can save your money for that extra spicy tuna roll or the rich, salty miso soup, which is just $1. The rolls represent the few simple things sushi needs to have: Fresh ingredients, moist rice, crispy tempura and piquant, powerful pickled ginger. Delish.
Asahi could use a little music, as the only ambiance on the night we were there was provided by "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" which played on the TV in the corner. It's not that great a movie, and we'd seen it already, anyway.
Drink recommendation: If you're not into sake, we recommend a six pack of slightly hoppy ale, not so strong it overpowers the delicate tastes of raw fish, but with enough kick to wash away the wasabi-spiked soy sauce your friends will likely challenge you to drink. Bass makes an excellent choice.
