Canton Dockside
Dockside relies on Louisiana crabs throughout the season. This means you're more likely to find the restaurant fully stocked, but the tender sweetness of the Maryland crab will never find its way to a Dockside table. Shipments come in around 2 p.m. The mediums we tasted were nice and big and served piping hot.
Dockside's great bar and good drafts (Circus Boy Hefe on draft? Yes, sir!) make it a great place to drink, even when not crab-picking. Look for occasional specials on small crabs: Just $2 each in the bar area. Though not exactly dock side, the patio at Dockside is a great place to pick some crabs.
Origin: All Louisiana, all the time.
Spices: Dockside uses its own signature blend, which includes chili pepper, celery seed, pepper, paprika, salt and, of course, secret ingredients. The end result is a blend that's more salty than spicy.
