Fondue
A crock of melted cheese surrounded by fresh bread for dipping is a good thing. A crock of melted cheese surrounded by your choice(s) of conveyance(s) is a better thing; especially when your selections are accompaniments such as roasted red bliss potatoes ($3), bison meatballs ($6), crudités ($8), apples ($3), salami ($5), sautéed mushrooms ($4) or dried figs ($4).
Additionally, there are three fondue varieties from which to choose: A house blend of "chef's unique" cheeses ($7), a "blue blend—Gorgonzola extravaganza" ($9), or the "South Charles blend" of white Cheddar, Gouda and Gruyere ($8). We tried the latter with crudités and bison meatballs. The warm, thick blend of cheeses riding to awaiting mouths on mellow bison meatballs was truly a blissful cheese experience. The nutty, sweet flavors of the Gouda and Gruyere were livened by the edgy Cheddar.
The fondue was the perfect size for sharing as an appetizer, or large enough for two to split as an entrée.
