Remember how Mom always made you eat your vegetables? You tried all sorts of tricks to get out of it: Feeding Brussels sprouts to the dog, hiding broccoli in napkins and stuffing peas inside a pile of mashed potatoes. All this just to avoid eating what was supposed to be good for you. Some of us were involved in tense, hours-long stand-offs. There we sat, alone at the kitchen table staring at a pile of cold spinach yet determined not to eat it, even if it meant missing Christmas and our birthdays.

You're all grown up now. You no longer have to be threatened, cajoled, tricked or bribed into eating your veggies. Or do you? Metromix found several places around town that serve up the most derided veggies—broccoli, spinach, beets, eggplant, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, peas, cauliflower and carrots—in inventive and tasty ways. Basically, we found delicious takes on everything except lima beans, because nobody can make lima beans taste good.
