Among diligently color-coordinated digs, Canton's latest addition, Py, features sandwiches, brick oven pizza, calzones and salads. The masterminds behind the pie at Py wisely stay open until 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, which provides excellent fare for the intoxicated and hungry. Delivery is free, but limited, and that's a shame, since Py's pizza deserves more than just late-night drunk dining status.
Food: Lots of places claim to serve "brick oven pizza" but how many bricks are actually in those ovens? More importantly, does the pizza come out thin and crispy? Luckily, at Py the answer is yes. Normally, slick-looking places like Py overcharge for food, but an enormous slice here is well worth the $3 price tag. Finally, the jumbo slice has come to Canton Square. (The calzones are pretty massive, too, and they only cost $7.)
Drinks: Py's cooler is heavily-stocked with sodas, waters and energy drinks—just the sort of liquids one needs before and after an evening of consuming other, more potent liquids.
Digs: Located a mere stumble from most bars, Py is ideally-suited to cure late night pizza cravings. Seating is limited to a few stools along a thin counter, but there's plenty of sidewalk to share and a whole park just across the street.
Vibe: The staff members look as if they should be at the bars, rather than serving folks coming from them. Despite being on the clock, the crew was eager, friendly and—because we were there in the early evening—relaxed. Later on, though, Py gets as packed as the bars next door. That means that while you stuff your pie hole, you get one last chance to meet someone to take home.
