Cirque de Harbor East's dine around took place Wednesday, Oct. 15, and provided anyone able to afford the $95 price tag an opportunity to sample six of Harbor East's best restaurants. Entering into the evening, I expected to be the only person with a sense of irony about the event. Dropping $100 for dinner smack dab in the middle of the week is one thing, but dropping $100 for dinner smack dab in the middle of a global recession is something else entirely. I expected, too, to be the only person under 30. Fortunately, I was wrong on both counts.
For our early seating, we were a party of 17. (There were four seatings total, as opposed to last year's two.) Multimedia gurus, co-workers from a Timonium-based financial planning group, a morning radio personality, a sheriff and an attorney rounded out our group. Folks settled into seats after a few handshakes, and though cordial might best describe those initial interactions, a few drinks made quick friends of most everyone at the table.
