Lunch at Granny's

I was at first hesitant to eat at Granny's because of some of the reviews that I read before going there. I am so glad that I did not let that stop me and my staff. The food was great. The atmosphere was wonderful. And, I love the Decor. The prices are moderate however the food portion are just right for me.

My sister and I just went there last night, Saturday. Had to wait about 45 minutes around 8-8:30 pm. It was a warm night so that wasn't a big deal. Limited seating inside. Very pleasant atmosphere. Jazz music playing, not too loud. Our waitress was great-very friendly and gave her opinions on dishes when asked. Checked on us often. We chose the house salad which was lovely. A small plate with their house dressing and mixed greens and strawberry and mango slices. I chose the catfish dinner and my sister got the crab cake. We both got the greens, only made with turkey meat and candied yams. Both very good and seasoned well. No need to add any salt or pepper to anything the entire night. And I am a salt-a-holic! The catfish was quite decent but I wish I had gotten the crab cake. Not bad at all. She chose the peach cobbler to go. I was a small whole pie in a foil tin pan. She said it was just okay. We definitely will return again.

There waffles need to be cooked as made to orderThere always cold when they come out after waiting 20 to 30 mins for your food. But are good when hot.The french toast I hated.I'm use to the old school way(Texas toast or challah bread.The ice tea and lemonade are very good. The fried chicken and catfish are good best catfish I've had at a restaurant.The owner who has sat me a few times he wasn't very friendly. Maybe he was having a bad day. The waitresses are slow it seems they move at snales pace.Overall they are pretty good and I will recommend to others in the future.

The place is small but clean and nicely decorated. The food is awesome and while the service is a little slow, it is so worth the wait when you get your food. The wait staff is attentive and friendly.

Overall rating:

Great food starting with the coffee and ending with fried apples. Lovely concept and ambience. Friendly wait staff. The food was so good I was unpleasantly surprised by the biscuit. It was dry, dense and lukewarm. The only negative comment on the entire dining experience. The prices are a little more than average, especially the catered menu. A nice change from the chain restaurants.
