Wu Year's Eve at Sonar

Sonar is rightfully known as one of the best places to see hip-hop in Baltimore. Having three rooms for different activities makes it possible to serve up entertainment for different types of people. The Wu Year's Eve party was no exception. One room was specifically designated for VIP guests (or those who wanted to fork over $150 for all-access) and had a true lounge feel, complete with sofas and comfort food. The DJ in the lounge room played down tempo old school hip-hop like the Fugees and folks just kinda…sat around.

The evening was structured by price point: $10 got you access to Taxlo, $55 and you could see the concert, $65 got you Wu plus Taxlo (no discount there!) and $95 earned you all that plus open bar. Once Wu-Tang Clan hit the stage, Taxlo (understandably) thinned out, but the attendees were still in a dancing mood.—La Kaye Mbah
