Blink-182
Blink-182, Weezer, Franz Ferdinand and 14 other hot acts…for free?!? Say a big “Thank you!” to Virgin Mobile for delivering some of the summer’s biggest concert draws as part of a free one-day festival. Appropriately dubbed the Virgin Mobile FreeFest, it all goes down Aug. 30 at the storied Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md. The bill offers a cool mix of genres, from the pop-punk and alt-rock of the marquee names above to Girl Talk’s mashed-up insanity, the Hold Steady’s barroom bravado, St. Vincent’s indie experimentalism, Public Enemy’s classic rap, and even electro-friendly stuff from the likes of Holy F--- and the legendary Pete Tong in a separate Dance Tent. Once all of the totally free tickets are gone, you can still try your luck by registering to volunteer at select homeless youth agencies for a chance to win VIP passes.
