Saturday: Foo Fighters
Liner notes: Originally a one-man side-project of then-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, Foo Fighters has become a beloved mainstay of modern alternative rock.
Sounds familiar: Perhaps best-known for the breakthrough sophomore album "The Colour and the Shape" (featuring singles "Monkey Wrench," "Everlong" and "My Hero"), Foo Fighters' studio releases have consistently been strong performers, with 2007's "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" topping off at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200.
On stage: You know the score: Anthemic songs fueled by equal parts power-chords and power-posturing, building up and out for the benefit of your inner rocker, if not your ear drums.
Hit or miss: Rock, rock and more rock—brace your face and throw some horns.—Tom Korp
Foo Fighters plays the South Stage Aug. 9 from 8:15-10 p.m.
