The Whigs at 8x10
The Whigs at 8x10
January 31, 2008
On Jan. 31, a young crowd packed the small 8x10, which offered little in the way of lighting for this particular show. The first band, Gizmo, is a funky quartet that played five songs. Plants and Animals, a trio, played second, offering up some surprisingly poetic tunes.
The extremely energetic six-piece, The Spinto Band, features four guitarists (two also sing), a keyboardist and a drummer. The band played a ton of really good stuff, which helped warm the crowd up for the main attraction. Once The Whigs kicked into its set, the band jammed out with no breaks. Picking up the energy The Spinto Band created, The Whigs got the crowd to finally move in on the stage and dance a little bit. Nice work, guys.—Needham Smith
