Maryland ties: East Baltimore

Musical style: Rap/hip-hop

Musical contribution: Started out as an East Baltimore freestyler and eventually ended up working with the local hip-hop production company Darkroom Productions. His song "Jailflick" landed on Darkroom's mixtape "Hamsterdam: The Best of Baltimore Vol. 1," which also contained songs by Mullyman, Bossman, Rod Lee and DJ Technics. "The Wire"'s creator David Simon heard the mixtape and realized one thing the show was missing was authentic local music.  

Extra notes: "Jailflick" is about prison inmates sharing photos to keep their spirits up.
