Shoegaze/Post-punk: Thrushes

If crushing heartache were set to music, it would sound like the beautiful songs and mellifluous guitars of Thrushes and the plaintive wails of lead singer Anna Conner. Taking over where Mazzy Star and My Bloody Valentine left off in the early '90s, Thrushes pads its music with thick walls of drum cymbals and guitars that sometimes ape violins or ghostly ships pushing through a cold night sea. Lonely, lush and beautiful are these little songbirds.
