Not all stories need to be told like stories. Take Jason Dove's stories. They're sliced into easy-to-understand pieces that play like a novella when strung together in an album such as his first solo effort, "We Should Be Together." With an ear for everything from The Beatles to Steely Dan, Dove gives us untidy, but satisfying, endings with a whole lot of '70s-flecked pop.
