The Beechfields was born in Mike Nestor’s (pictured) bedroom in 2003. He was recording his own music as well as the music of several friends, and was looking for a label to distribute it. After some research, he thought that none of them were appropriate for the music he was producing. He decided to do it himself, creating a business model that favored the artist instead of the label. Every cent from every album sold goes directly to the artist. The sound of the records also garnered attention, and soon artists from outside of Nestor’s circle began to join. Each record has a limited print run of a few thousand, which make the albums very collectible.
