Egg Babies Orchestra
The Egg Babies Orchestra didn't start out as an orchestra. In fact, it was originally just a two-man band with guitarist and singer Chris Myers and percussionist David Andler. As time went on, the group kept adding members until it swelled to the massive lineup it has today. Most shows, expect to see at least seven or eight performers on stage, and if there's enough room, there will likely be more than one dozen musicians. And, hey, there's room for more if you play a trumpet or saxophone. The band would love to add to its horn section. While the band is partial to songs from ELO, Elvis Costello, Ramones and Tom Petty, Egg Babies'll play just about anything, including covering musicians as diverse as Dolly Parton, composer Vangelis and even Rick Dempsey's Invisible Orioles Magic Band. A recent performance included nothing but movie theme songs.
Lineup: Chris Myers, vocals and guitar; David Andler, baby drum kit; Mike Gittings, guitar and vocals; Mike Ward, piano and vocals; Chris Laun, lead bells and vocals; Adam Hopkins, bass; Megan Rogers, triangle and Irish spoons; Matt Bovie, T-shirt artist (an important role--Bovie creates a new shirt for every show!); Greta Thomas, violin; Pat Hughes, percussion; and Jenn Wasner, vocals
