Deep Sleep
Deep Sleep sounds more like a fever dream, with the very flirty Nick Vance on guitar, Darick Sater on drums, Mike Sterns on bass and Tony Pence yelling the lyrics he writes. All originally from Maryland, Pence and Vance were born in Baltimore and Sater and Sterns are from Westminster. Deep Sleep plays an '80s-style of punk and hardcore that is reminiscent of later Black Flag and the Descendents with a dash of the Circle Jerks thrown in. Alternating between short, fast, manic songs and long, more melodic ones, their sets are usually pretty balanced.
Deep Sleep tries to get out of town as much as possible, but you can usually check them out at The Ottobar and the Talking Head like most local acts. Sater and Sterns also both belong to the Jean Mills Society Torch and are former members of the Spark. Pence and Vance were in a pretty popular act called Never Enough and Pence also runs Celebrated Summer Records in Towson.
