When DJ Landis Expandis (pictured) assured everyone there was no chance of rain, the sun was shining. Too bad he was wrong. Less prepared vendors set up at Station North Spring Festival on April 25 ran away, but the storm soon passed. After the sun set, people filled the streets for solid performances on the main stage, which featured mostly jazz bands such as Il Culo and The Nerftones and rock by Big in Japan. Funky, local bands performed on the smaller stages.
Mad haPPy played Zodiac, and their set featured a seven-month-pregnant singer. Cityslides played on North Avenue. One highlight of the festival had to be Santa Dads at Zodiac: A trumpet-playing, beat boxing Tigger performed opposite a ukulele-strumming vocalist dressed like Little Orphan Annie. Ah, Baltimore, we love you so.
